Error Submitting Post

Instead of emailing or messaging the Admins or Mods with technical support questions or comments about the site, we prefer you check here to see if someone else has had the same difficulty or has made the same suggestion. What you're after might have already been posted and addressed here or within the FAQ. If not, please post a detailed description of the problem/suggestion and someone from the HST team will address your needs shortly. If you can't login/post and are unable to reset your password on your own, you may contact us directly.

Error Submitting Post

Post by BSquared »

I frequently get the following error message just after submitting a post:
Could not connect to smtp host : 111 : Connection refused

DEBUG MODE

Line : 112
File : smtp.php
Nonetheless, the post almost always shows up just fine. Any idea what's going on here?

I've had the same error. I put in a support ticket to the host, and they say they are working on a fix. Bare with us, and hopefully this issue will be resolved in the next couple of days. :)

...also, I have a strong suspicion (based on the lack of a message after your recent post) that I am not always getting e-mail when a thread I'm following is updated.

Well, this post will be the test. Our site host says the problem has been resolved. We'll see...

Ok, appears to be working fine when I post, now. And yes, this type of problem would have been responsible for emails not being sent. :)

...except...

It looks like the e-mails announcing new postings on a watched thread are once again unreliable. Do you need more details (like the threads I was watching)?

No, but what I do need are more details... Are they sometimes delivered, and other times not? Which dates/times did not net an email?

OK, I'll try to keep track more carefully. The message you just posted did generate an e-mail. Yesterday there were a couple of postings about bear boxes that did not. I'll keep you posted (um... no pun intended :p ) as I can pin things down more accurately.

I surely do appreciate the effort you make keeping up this BB, by the way. I'm sure you know that, but it doesn't hurt to emphasize it now and then :)

No problem. Just let me know if you encounter more problems with emails not being sent.
