Just a question. about the Yandex bot. why? Right up there as my "friendship" with Baidu.. Haven't seen that bot on lately.

Because it hasn't been blocked yet or if it was (and I think that's one I did block some time ago) it was in an earlier version of htaccess. Still monkeying around with things so you might notice foreign bots for a short while.

Checked and that's one that should be blocked. They must have found a way around what I had entered. Will research it.

Convinced now that they've somehow found a workaround. Not something I can play with right now, but definitely a site we want blocked so will find a way.

No visits since March 8 so hopefully resolved.

Can someone educate me briefly: what's the problem with Yandex? Too many Russian spammers and hackers, so we'd just as soon keep a low profile in that part of the world?

We don't cater to Russia, China, Ukraine or some of the other countries that have their own search engines so we block them. Beyond not targeting traffic from those regions, we simply don't trust these services.
