The 2nd Annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey Relay has been announced for July 7-8, and entries are now being accepted. The 178 mile-long route up and down the scenic east side of the Sierra Nevada range is designed to be completed by 200 teams of 12 runners. Those who register by March 31 will be eligible for a prize drawing; registration closes June 1st. The scenic route begins at Reno's Wingfield Park, ascends to Truckee, goes south to Tahoe City, then traces the west and south shores of Lake Tahoe.Ê Runners will pass through Genoa and Virginia City before finishing in Reno. The segments for each runner vary between three and eight miles. Each runner is expected to run three segments for an average of 15 miles. Teams are expected to complete the course after 20-30 hours. Afterwards, a Finish Line Festival will be held,Ê complete with a beer garden, food vendors and live entertainment. The entry fee is $85 per runner.
