Heel Inserts

Would using heel inserts cause arch problems?
My arches appear to be a little high and I already use the green superfeet in my boots. My concern was that the heel insert would effectively make my arches higher.
I've already had some pain in my feet which I've been able to eliminate by stretching/working out my feet/arches/calves.
