Dinkey Lake Perch

Would like to share this beautiful piece of art that was taken while
out with our group of HST members in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness.
There is a small hill north of the lake which takes one to the top of
the world, it has a magical view looking northward and would make
any photographer do flips of joy, especially if mother nature serves
up some quality million dollar light, the one that makes you go wow!
After finishing up dinner on my last night it was the usual walk up to
this spot that was found while scouting the first day at the lake, it
held the most promising views for a special capture or captures. This
panorama really speaks volumes about the beauty of the Sierra. Not
only do the views of First Dinkey Lake, Black Peak, and Rock Meadow
just northwest of the Peak add a touch of intimacy to the piece, but
also the warmth of the alpine glow on the piece of granite in the
foreground, on the trees, and the clouds high above the Sierra Crest
just makes it sings volumnes about the beauty of this land.
The granite boulder in the foreground not only anchors the piece but
also gives the viewer a sense of being at the edge of a perch which is
a key element in making the whole thing work. The shaded mid ground
adds a key element in the layering of the colors, which adds balance
to the overall piece.
This is the true essence of the Sierra!
Hope it speaks volumnes to your soul as it does to mine.

Yes, the sunset lighting on that is sensational, among other things and the open landscape is really serene and captures what we feel when we're in places like that. That is indeed beautiful. I must confess I initially looked at the thread title and wondered if this was some odd fish species living in the Dinkey Lakes ("the Dinkey Lake Perch"--a newly discovered endemic species?) until I realized that such a thread wouldn't be in photography.

the water was warm enough to support perch. Sucked the large burrito. :)

Still a nice pic.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. A similar perch north of Island Lake overlooking South, Swede, and First Dinkey is one of my favorite spots in the area.
