"Ghost Ships"

One of my favorite B&W pieces (of all time) was taken on my Humphreys Basin trip.
Coming out on Saturday gave me several hours to scout the Mono Lake area for
sunset and sunrise opportunities. The clouds were just perfect for sunset, and was
fortunate enough to capture 2 beautiful panorama shots one which will be in my
up coming galley show.
Sleeping in the car near Mono Lake along side the road in BLM land is not the most
comfortable experience but this time my new sleeping pad made things a lot more
bearable. About 3 am it was off to the spots which were to be photographed. This
one turned out even better than I had imagined with the tufas having a ghostly, eerie
feeling to them and there reflections added to these emotions.
The first signs of sunlight from the long exposure coming in from the east adds a
special touch while the moonlit tufas have ghostly glow to them.
Happy early Halloween! :)

Yes, this is the effects of stalagmite like tufas, and whitish colors against the dark skies.
