"Haunted Peaks"

Everyone remembers seeing a halloween, or a horror movie, with the dark, and eerie
hills, or mountains, with a house, or castle on top with lightening, and bats, well
these are the emotions I felt when taking this picture, minus the bats
and castle.
I had been admiring the clouds moving in from the south all day, and could hear
the distance rumbling of the on coming storm.
Hoping to get lucky I set up in the meadow which is located before you get to
Lower Cathedral Lake just of the trail.
As time past by the clouds started to build into massive thunderheads and seemed
to close in on my location.
Eichorn Pinnacle and Cathedral Peak both climbing meccas looked menacing, especially
silhouetted by the massive bellowing thunderhead behind them.
This thunderhead was the key to this shot because the contrast darkened the two
peaks, not to the point of losing any shadow detail, but created the whole eerie
haunted, sinister feeling in the shot.
I used a telephoto lens to compress the scene which gave the peaks a larger than life
and reaching for the heavens look.
There were a few lightning strikes, but only one that looked like a hand that was
getting ready to pick up the two massive blocks of granite would work.
