Thanks Hickerchick395 for the kind comments.
I agree 100% that most folks who never have been in the back country during
or after a huge thunderstorm or other large meteorological event will never
see the vibrant colors, and cloud formations that can sometimes be produced by
these rare events.
Some of us go out seeking these events, and rarely see them ourselves, I guess
dismissing something spectacular that few have ever witnessed comes easy to some
folks.

Here's an evening two weeks ago, the end result of a day like I mentioned above. In the morning, venticular clouds were embedded in cumulus clouds over the White Mountains. I was on a walk at that time and only had my cell phone camera. The cumulus moved on, but the venticular clouds stuck around all day.

Very nice.
I have a similar cloud formation, and colors at Mono Lake during a wicked storm
2 years ago.
You mention video captures in your pm, can you up load any of them?

Definitely a unique and outstanding shot, Maverick. I've never seen anything quite like it, but just the idea that something like this exists and that you were able to capture it makes it very impressive.

Thanks Windknot.
Yes, being there at the right place, and the right time is what makes these kind of
shots even more special, the odds are, this will probably be the only time I will ever
witness a bolt coming thru a lenticular cloud, but I will continue to run after storms
and try to nudge the odds a little in my favor.

I have not got one video on my computer...yet. I just ordered a 1.5 TB hard drive to dedicate to video. (Video on my still camera is lousy. I take video on DV tapes...my husband's Lumix DMC ZS3 takes decent video clips.) I didn't even have a digital video camera until 2008...made my analog video "digital" on DVD's.

I love video because, for instance, with the lightning, you have the thunder. With the creek shot, you have the movement and sound.

And Maverick...chasing the dream or the repeat performance makes it all the more fun. I got a cool shot several years back on film and thought I'd never see the situation again. But low and behold, I was able to get a shot with similar conditions in the same location on my digital camera in 2009.

Yes, I hear you on the video, sound would be cool in some situations, it would
add a different dimension for the viewer.
And yes, the quest/chase for something similar, or even better, is one of the
key motivators that will keep me going for a very long time!
