A few from this past weekend

A few shots from this past weekend. We camped at Leavitt Lake Friday Night, then backpacked a short loop in Hoover Wilderness (Green Creek -> Virginia Pass -> Return Lake -> Summit Lake -> East Lake -> Green Creek) before staying in Lee Vining Sunday Night. It was incredibly windy every night, wind that sounds like a freight train barreling down while you hang on and brace for impact.

Muchos Gracias for the pic's.
The water in the Leavitt Creek pic looks like mist around the base of the plants.

Good pics, Greg.
We were are Gaylor lakes Sunday and the wind was brutal. We went to Mono Lake Tues. and saw the Ospreys on thier nests. My 300 mm telephoto wasn't quite enough to bring them in, though. I'll try to blow them up and see what comes out.

Thanks!

Mike, glad I took the time.

Tom, that wind was crazy. It just never let up. The Osprey were fun to watch, although their nests are so far offshore its sometimes hard to see. One flew in Sunday night with a fish and ate it on one of the tufa towers. The next day we fished at Grant Lake nearby for a while and watched them fish there as well.

Hello, I am a fledgling photographer.
Do you think you can share the settings/filters you used for "Sunrise at
Return Lake "

Thanks

Canon 40D, 10-22mm at 16mm, f16, 2", iso100, tripod, remote release, Circular Polarizer, 2-stop Graduated ND Filter. In the case of that image, the polarizer really added to the rich blues given the orientation of the sun when I took the photo.

Ah thank you.
I suppose with the filters and relative low light and the f stop, you had to make it long exposure, thereby compromising the stillness of the reflection.
But no matter, it's a wonderful image
