I love the guessing game with lakes. I clicked on that one without looking at what it was and guessed Grassy Lake. :p

How many people, like my 2 sons and I, have heard the echo at Echo Lake?

I haven't heard it. The wind was blowing big time when I was there so no chance for good sound waves.

Vintage Kodachrome taken in January 1979 on the eastern slopes of Pyramid Peak in Desolation Valley. My friend Mitch and and I snowshoed to the summit. We camped and skied for a few days in the Lake Aloha area. The weather was perfect.

Some of you are just a lot tougher than I am. My idea of bad weather is: hike one day (or less), turn around and come back next week. Winter: I guess I'll go skiing at Mammoth.

This pic: I love indications of big avalanches - I won't be there until next summer.
This was Phil I on our trip to (among other places) the Lyle Fork of the Merced.

I agree, thats an incredible photo. Where is it? It looks like there are 1000 islands in that lake (I've never been to Thousand Island Lake)
