oh, ok. i see the lake you are talking aboput now.... my mistake.
so yeah, the pink rock in question is about 1/2 mile southwest of the lake 12200 in your picture.
i mistook that lake to be lake 11818, which it's clearly not.

p.s. confusion pass - that image sure brings back a memory. i slept overnite on top right on that very spot. it was a warm nite & i just slept out on those rocks. melted some snow for drinking water.

We walked over to the edge of Confusion Lake and found a nice sheltered place to camp on a shelf just north of the lake. Awesome views from here.

Here's a shot I took from that spot. A few seconds before Mike snapped his shutter. It was cold and windy. What a view!

After seeing the photo on the wall in the grill at Tuolumne Meadows of this composition I looked for it and tried to recreate it. Without any clouds though it's bland.
