Lost Coyote, Was this taken at the lake between Martha Lake and the SW shoulder of Mt. Goddard? Or was it taken above the large lake 10,232 south of Mt. Reinstein? The western section of Ionian Basin is all metavolcanic metmamorphic rock, and these photos look like some of it. Not sure what kind of rock it is, since I'm not a geologist, but it looks like some of the rock in The Goddard Pendant, which can be red, green, white, black, gray, and rust colored.

Here's a shot I took of an interesting rock wall with a quartz intrusion. I also found some samples of marble in this location at lake 12,200. The other shots are of the metavolcanic rock between Martha lake and Ionian Basin.

This is what happens when you leave your camera at camp when friends are around.

I found another pic from our Lyle Fork of the Merced trip that almost nobody thought anything of. If you saw the area to the right like I did you might conclude as I that the broken tree (and those in the background) were an old avalanche result.

Now, if you add cow bones to that pic, like I saw in the upper drainage of the Mokolunme we could talk..

VIVA LA SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!! Keep it alive!

This shot was taken at sunset in the western Ionian Basin near lake 12,300 at the base of Mt. Goddard, looking south toward Blue Canyon. Finger Peak and the White Divide is on the right. Not sure which peak is illuminated on the left...Blue Canyon Peak? Tunemah? SEKI August 2010

neither one.

in your latest picture posted (lake 11818 with finger peak beyond)
the pink colored rock is around 11750 in elevation...
it's just below the small tarn just south of lake 11818...
just west of the creekbed right before the elevation begins to drop off to lake 10220.

never seen pink rock like that before.
speaking of pink...
