Re: SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!
This is something that for me, is completely unclear in the NPS regs for SEKI and Yose. Aviation rules. From the little i could find in the NPS regs about either amphibious airplane or helicopters for either park, they're not allowed to land.el cuervo wrote:Large mosquitoes at Bullfrog Lake
el cuervo, this pic was taken in SEKI, right?
Anyone know the actual regs for landing either an amphibious plan or helicopter in California's National Parks? or maybe a pointer to it?
I know you can get filming permits which might give you such rights, but a pointer would be great to the actual regs.

landing a plane on a high lake would be even better than packing stuff in by Llama

That's gonna be a tough 10 miles.
Re: SIERRA INSPIRATION PHOTOTHON!
Those large mosquitoes were hired by NPS to replace the radio repeaters a couple years ago.
I just happened to be hiking by when I saw all the activity, so I wandered over and chatted em up a bit.
The SEKI repeaters are now digital.
It was good to hear this and not a mass casualty evac, given all the traffic.
I offered the pilot a case of beer if he would haul me to a certain spot.
He politely declined even at two cases, chocolate and fresh trout.
