Another take on Lake Majorie. I wasn't filtering my water at this point and no other lake was as pure and clean as this one.

it is not always the great vistas that draw me back to the Sierra - here some non-descript piece of forest between Vermillion Valley Resort and Graveyard Meadow on a cold July morning in 1989. It is 5:30am, I just spent an hour chasing a cat-like bear around the camp and wondered where the epicenter of the earthquake was that shook the trees above our tent on the evening before...

22 years later, I still remember how good the fire felt and how glad I was there was finally light and I could see if the bear was still stalking us. Note the classic Bleuet stove with Belgian army rectangular pot :unibrow:

Early morning sun hits a stream along the Muir Trail, somewhere in Evolution Valley before the trail climbs the next step in the valley up to Evolution Lake.
