A place where few humans have ever ventured... And Only because of Rogue Photonic was I able to witness the beauty and glory of this sublime lake. As he titled it.. Island Bird Lake.

PS... Bonus points for those who can name the peak in the background.

so cool to see somebody else venture out to see "Bird Island Lake." We almost went this year but our schedule was too tight once we got to that area

For those who are interested, I just received my most recent copy of Westways, which is the AAA magazine for members.

They had in it the results from their inaugural photo contest (1st prize was a tip to Hawaii, winning photo was a night shot of a Sequoia in Kings Canyon), and I believe many of the photos posted in this thread are the equal or better.

I have no connection to AAA in any way other than being a member, I just think the HST photos on this thread are among the best I've ever seen and could easily win some contests.

These guys were together with another group of workers we met lower in the valley that day, which included our very own RoguePhotonic. Small world up there - I also ran into two hikers we shared camp sites with last year.

You should submit that photo to the PCTA photo contest that rolls around sometimes after the fist of the year in the equestrian category.

if I only know what the PCTA is - something to do with the PCT? This isn't on the PCT.

meanwhile, something "new" from 2010 - going through old pictures with new software. D90 images with the cheap kit lens never looked this good on my hard drive. 6 image panorama stich north of Pinchot July 25, 2010
