Not me. The antiquities police may be watching. The e-bay I posted was for no. 2a, but the no 2b has the name plate as well as all of the other attributes. Manufactured from 1926 - 1934. Besides, if they catch me up their, they may haul my carcass out.

Wow, what a find.
I fiddled with the photo a bit, but couldn't make much of it.

Re: What kind of camera was this?
Here is a larger blow up of the name plate using the original version and not the small version necessary for posting on HST. I rotated it.
It looks like a lot of the early Brownies I have been coming across on Google searches. The Hawkeye model has a different kind of plate on it though. Some of the cameras it resembles date to 1915.

Here is a link to the 1926 manual for the Hawkeye 2a:

I wish the actual lettering which stated the model had not been worn off!
The camera felt like a lead brick. I imagine over the years it has been filled with sand or mud, and probably would not have opened up. I did not think of the Antiquities act, but I think I was squeamish about something that appeared to be quite old.
I just would love to know the story. Did it break and someone just throw it away? Did it tumble from a pack? Was this definitely something used by an amateur?
It is definitely a Kodak, and I think you may have nailed it. It says "No. 2 Folding M????? M???? / Made in U.S. by / Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester N.Y./Use Film No. 120"It looks like a lot of the early Brownies I have been coming across on Google searches. All you have to do is go back, pick it up, and turn it in. Someone will research it for you. I don't think people registered their cameras in that era, but who knows. Or maybe tell Jimr where it is and let (make) him pick it up.
