Yosemite Sunday November 5th

Post by ifernau »

Thanks to reports from Steven and Dan Mitchell, I hurried up and took a drive to Yosemite last Sunday. Got pulled over by the CHP on 120 before the Yosemite turnoff at 5:00AM for speeding (80miles/hr). I guess it was too early to have them eating donuts at a coffee shop :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

So I missed the sunrise , but I got a few shots I like. The sky was not very good, partial overcast and smoke from a controlled burn.

Here are a couple of them:

Good work Inge. I've shot Fern Spring several times but never thought of pointing down towards the pool. Nice sweeping highway image with the road near Discovery View. I've tried a few such road images this fall too. One where I met you at north lake in the tunnel of aspen and another on highway 190 in Giant Forest. My homepage has a link to my 2006 fall foliage work and on that subpage is a link to a slideshow of some 4x5 film scans that has those highway pics.

I was in the valley three days during the week before that weekend. As I expected, it looked like most of the trees peaked about 10 days before I visited in the third week of October. There were still some nice images to be found though at the west end where you were shooting and also above Happy Isles. ...David
