Car swap-shuttle proposal for people interested in a one-way hike covering some of the best of the JMT/PCT:

I'd like to hike the JMT from mile 88 (Vermillion) to mile 167 (Woods Creek) and then down Paradise Valley to Kings Canyon Roads End (17 more beautiful miles). I'd prefer hiking southbound starting late June, but am flexible on both direction and dates. I would also consider substituting mile 107.1 (Muir Trail Ranch) for Vermillion as the north trailhead.

If you are interested in a similar hike, we could swap cars in Madera or Fresno (both on Hwy 99) and I'd leave your car at either Vermilion (1 mile plus a ferry ride from JMT mile 88) or Florence Lake (3 miles plus a ferry ride from JMT mile 108.8) -- your choice of which spot. I'd leave your car at Roads End in Kings Canyon (17 miles from JMT mile 167). You'd hike north to your car and I'd hike south toward mine. (Florence Lake is near Muir Trail Ranch.)

Total trail distances:
Roads End to Florence Lake - 78 miles including 58 miles of JMT/PCT
Roads End to Vermillion - 96 miles including 77 miles of JMT/PCT

I'd take 8 days to hike from Vermillion (or 6 from Florence Lake). But since we are each walking to our own cars, we can hike at different paces.

My (small) car would accommodate up to 3 hikers and gear. Can provide references.
