I've heard second-hand that some people have been advised not to drive to Edison in standard low-clearance vehicles. I've driven my old Ford Escort up there several times without any problems...but there was a washout last year, and I'm wondering if that made the road a lot worse. Does anyone know if the road has deteriorated significantly in the last year?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Lake Edison road
The road is maintained by SC Edison, I'd say it is fine. Maybe they were talking about the 4WD Bear Creek road? It's also maintained but it is what it is.

There are potholes (always have been, and probably always will be). However, it did seem to be in greater need of some work than usual (for the time of year) when I last drove it in late fall. But it's not really a road you're supposed to speed across, anyway. Just drive slow, cautiously drive around the potholes and you'll be fine.
