Overnight parking

I'm new to backpacking...what are the rules with parking a vehicle for multiple days when you are backpacking?

Is there a designated overnight parking at most trail heads? Do you have to pay? Information included in the permit process?

Can you park and leave a vehicle on the side of the road in any state or national park or blm land where otherwise not posted?

@Nimblybimbly You will probably get better advice from this forum if you ask about specific trailhead locations. That said, the parking rules vary from location to location, and national parks are generally more strict than national forests. Some trailheads require parking fees, but many others are free. Overnight parking on the side of the road is generally not allowed in national parks (at least in California), but is generally allowed on BLM and National Forest land unless posted signs indicate otherwise.

Yes, no, maybe, sometimes. It depends on specifics.
