Tioga Road
Updated May 13, 2016
Road crews are still working to make the road safe to open, including clearing fallen trees and rocks, removing hazard trees, plowing side roads, and plowing turnouts. There is still no estimated opening date.
The road will be open to bicycles only on Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15. Be sure to obey "no stopping zone" signs and watch for administrative vehicle traffic.

For some of them it will be their first time backpacking in the sierra, I hope the road is open by then!
They'll be fine. I told everyone to bring sandals with a backstrap for the flooded section. I've done it in spring before and its never been dangerous.
I entered the park through the 41 entrance yesterday and asked the ranger when the 120 will open. He said that is was already clear and they were just waiting for the final word, and said he expected it to open next weekend.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
