SEKI NP:
Crews have been working diligently to open certain areas as quickly as possible. If you will be visiting the parks this weekend, stop by a park visitor center for updates. Note: If we receive additional snow this spring, these areas could temporarily close.

The road between the parks: OPEN, weather-permitting (as of today).

In Sequoia National Park, the main (big) General Sherman Tree parking lot is expected to be open by Saturday. The road crew is working on potential opening of Moro Rock/Crescent Meadow Road to Moro Rock--this could happen as early as Saturday.

The road crew will work on opening more of Moro Rock/Crescent Meadow Road, perhaps to Crescent Meadow, as soon as possible.

In Kings Canyon National Park: CalTrans is planning on opening Hwy. 180 access to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon National Park on April 21, 2016, at 12 noon, road/weather conditions permitting. This is an update since yesterday's post. Info: www.dot.ca.gov or call 1-800-427-7623.

Keep an eye out while driving 180 down into Kings Canyon. Lots of baseball-softball sized rocks on the road, especially after rain. It's like that every year but this year seems to be worse due to the rough fire. Just a heads up since it's hard to focus on the road with all the scenery!
