New shoe break-in

Post by overheadx2 »

Just bought some new Asolo Fugitives for the up coming season. I have always just worn them to break them in. Any one have any secrets to a faster break in period. I'm not apposed to the old fashioned approach, I just assumed some one has some secret. Thanks, Phil

I have heard people trying to soak boots and other unorthodox ways
to break them in, but nothing beat old fashion, true and tried way of
breaking them in.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Way back when boots were leather,
I remember the words of my old gear guru -
"Stand in water and get them wet -
wear until dry - all day.
This way, the boots will only hurt for that one day."

When I get a new pair of all leather work boots, I run them over with my truck a couple times. It works great! Getting them wet works good too, except it can be painful.

I recently got a really nice pair of work boots....supposed to be "pre broken in" They weren't....but running them over sure did the trick!

Learned this in the military...put them on, take a shower, wear until dry. Ive done this for every pair of boots for the past 25 years
