Mammut Heron Light BackPack

Post by mcdermtj »

Hey Everyone

Curious as to whether anyone has any experiences with the Mammut Heron Light series of packs. I think they are comparable to a Deuter ACT pack but I can't find any stores in the Bay Area that carry them. I want a 65 L bag under four pounds that doesn't sacrifice on strap cushioning or fabric durability. I read the thread on the Deuter series earlier and it looks like a solid rig as well. I never really see anyone hauling a Mammut pack and I wanted to make sure that wasn't for good reason. The padding looks substantial where you need it most and it looks much sturdier than any Osprey or REI Flash models I checked out. I have a 90L Kelty Red Cloud that is my go to extended trek bag and at only 5 1/2 pounds it is still going strong after ten years... bit of overkill on a 4 or 5 night fishing trip tho. I might just order it online and pay the return shipping if its a dud. Any info would be appreciated.
