Android topo maps?

Sometimes I am stuck having to use my phone to check maps and I would sure like to find service that works well with my Android phone ( ICS )?
Google works just OK for topo, it does not offer the detail of a real 7.5 or 15M map.
I tried Acme 2nite and could not get it to work well.
MSR maps same, I also read that MSP map service has been discontinued.
Does anyone have a suggestion that I might try ?

Thanks

I use Backpacker Magazines GPS Trails. It caches the maps to your SD card and works well in the back country. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS and it works great.

Thanks for the advice.
I have pressed a lot of buttons lately and it seems that
Backpacker is working out the best for topo.

Now my next challenge is to find a way to get the
terrain feature as found in google maps to work
with google earth, I can't believe they have a good
reason to NOT have that layer available but I can't
find a way to turn it on.
