What are your thoughts about this new bear can

It'll be interesting. I'd give it a year of bear tests before getting one. Looks a little hard to get in your pack or strap to the outside. But at least someone's trying different approaches.

Does anyone know why one can rent several different kinds of bear canisters, including Bearikades, in SEKI but only Garcias in Yosemite? Do the Yosemite people just assume that everyone's taking short trips?

Yosemite rents the Garcia but sells both sizes of Bare Boxer in the grocery stores and outfitters.

One would think that if you already backpack a lot, you'd just invest in one. There's nothing wrong with the Garcia except for it's weight. Probably why Yose only rents them; they're indestructible.
