Ebay down Bag

When searching for a down bag, I keep coming across this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPER-SMALL-LIGHTWE ... 286.c0.m14

Details
Size: 33" x 83" x 21"
Compress size: 11.8" x 5.5"
Temperature rating +20 Degree F/-7 Degree C
Net weight with sack 1.86 pounds
Compress sack Black (included)
Color: Orange / Blue / Black / Red
Condition: Brand NEW
Zipper: #5 Two-way zipper
Insulation: Duck Down.

Its $95, and is temping as hell. It packs tiny... Is super light (under 2 lbs!), and is cheap... but you know what they always say about something that seems to good to be true...

Slicing 2 1/4 lbs off by pack weight ( I have a 66 ounce Synthetic bag now) would be awesome...

Anyone have any experience? I'm getting close to giving it a whirl.

The other interesting bag option, for just a little bit more money, is the Lafuma Warm n' Light 800g... any users of either of these bags out there?

Ray,
I don't know anything about that bag so I can't say anything about it.

Every once in a while Sportsmans Guide runs a 20 degree down bag from Slumber Jack for about the same money. I bought one of the Slumber jack bags a few years ago and have been very happy with it. With a set of thermals on it has kept me warm down into the teens.

I bought my wife one of the 30 degree Lafuma Warm n' Light 800g this year for our Yosemite trip. Most of the reviews I have read said that the Lafuma bags slept 10-15 degrees cooler than there rating. Debbie normally sleeps cold but the first 2 nights of our trip dropped below 30 and she said that she was very warm. I don't know if they are still marked down but REI had Lufama on sale not long ago.

No experience with that particular bag, but based upon the specs I'd be very cautious of the temp rating. Ratings can be very inaccurate - especially when it comes to how the rating is determined - and without knowing the loft dimensions, fill weight, or down quality, I'd hesitant to say that is true 20F. In addition, duck down has a reputation for not being as good of quality as goose down (at least when it comes to fill power). Of course the bag could live up to every expectation, but I'd be cautious based upon the above.

Also no experience with either bag mentioned but am leery at best here.
I once tried a thin "bargain" duck down bag (like the one shown here) and was immediately disappointed...poor construction in the baffles and you could see the light right through it...plus, be aware that duck feathers have a particular odor... there was this strange smell coming from the down...made sleeping impossible after a few days of it...not a happy camper.

The Lafuma bag, on the other hand, might be OK if you only hike the lower elevations and in mid summer primarily, but if going up high, the High Sierra can turn on you in a second...one night might be high 50°'s, the next night easily below freezing...I hate being cold at night. I would rather spend the extra $$ and get a trusted brand name bag I can truly rely on.
Just my 2¢.
Mark

I have a 20 oz 800 fp down quilt that I would trust down to the high 20F temps, but I didn't get it on ebay and it's quality gear from an excellent manufacturer.

I tend to look at things on ebay very skeptically - that's too good to be true. A two pound 600 fp sleeping bag is not going to be that warm. A Marmot Neverwinter 30F bag weighs more than that with the same quality of down.

Bidding closed so its a done deal now I guess.
The "Look" of the bag does not inspire confidence, it looks like
it does not have the loft to accommodate the temp. rating.
Another unknown is who actually manufactures this bag,
of course if you order 1,000 bags the manufacturer will
put your name on them if you want.
