Plenty of room for my approximately 6', 175 lb. frame, Mine has always shed a bit of feathers here and there but I believe that the newer ones use a different fabric (and have a draft tube at the neck). It's not much help since I don't remember the bag names but I had tried out a couple of the "lite" series in the store and felt constrained in them. The Versalite was luxurious in comparison and I've never regretted the choice :-)

great - if I only would receive mine... The Tent & Trails outfit in NYC has to be the most disorganized online dealer I have ever dealt with. 3 weeks after my order, and they still have no idea if they will ship it, have shipped it, may ship it, could ship it... been on the phone with them 4 times now and each time they give me a different story. The only good part is that they have not charged me yet. However, I can't just go to a different vendor now, since they will probably charge me and ship it a day after I order it elsewhere... and it is still 3 months before my trip starts.

Lol, I feel sorry for you. They sound like lamers. I have been in that position before from other game-playing companies that take your money and THEN order the item for you although they claim "it's in stock". They then have to tap dance when their supplier is out of stock and you want to know where your order is...

Just sent an email to Big Edge Sports a few minutes ago who is doing that very same thing on an order of mine.

they were quite up front about the fact that they had to first order it. I think what's going on now is that they want to make sure they don't order a second one and then end up with one "in stock" for real :D

well, I never received the bag from Tent & Trails - highly disorganized operation there.

Back to deciding if I really need a new bag :D

Fish,
I am so sorry that Tent 'n Trail hosed you on the bag, customer service wise...they did treat me well - fast, and I hoped that they would continue to be a good gear source...alas, turns out they suck.
I think I am done giving out gear advice...nothing seems to work... ](*,)

Thank god the season is almost here!!!!!!!!

no problem - I wasn't really 100% in love with the idea of spending that kind of cash on a new bag just to save one pound from a bag that's overweight anyway. Perhaps this was a good thing to happen and now I can focus on the stuff that really matters this summer: Great trail food :unibrow:

Gotta buy two Bearikade weekenders, too, so the money is still being spent in the outdoor industry and for made in USA stuff.

I'm just going to freak when they bill me and send the bag later in September... which based on what I found out about their operation with my frequent phone calls is not completely out of the realm of possibilities. After all, they got my credit card number and were unable to confirm that my order was completely canceled (as they never could find it in the first place).

Been all over ebay for a bag lately, and almost pulled the trigger on an Antelope for $280ish, but again wasn't really committed. A long Helium came up again, but then the seller changed it to "oh, it's not long" - again, there's something happening that wants me to hold on to my money, I think.

6 1/2 weeks to go before the big yo-yo. Kids may need shoes again (bought some in Feb - now he at least seems to have outgrown them already.) Doh!

Went to REI today and bought their Halo +25 Long bag - on sale for $180 and out the door for $60 after tax REI divident were applied. it weighs 960 grams and is appears better made than the older sub-Kilo bags my kids have. Not a super bag, but quite comfy, cut much better for me than the Helium I recently had, and has an almost full length zipper. It cuts a pound off my load and stuffs much smaller than my old bag. It'll be fine for a while and I have enough cash left for the two extra Bearikades we need this summer.

Good work! I'm utterly delighted with my sub-kilo, except that I had to get a third party to reoperate the zipper so it'd zip together with my spouse's.
