Is anyone familiar with this devise and or has anyone used it in the Sierras? We have been reading mixed reviews on it's performance and are wondering if it's worth the purchase or not for some backpacking trips that we do in the Sierras.

We are only wondering about performance issues. We are aware that it's our ultimate responsibility to be smart out on the trials and that this is not a substitute for ignorance or a false sense of security. Got all that...just have read it does not work for some people in certain areas and hoping to find someone who has used it in the Sierra's.
