Re: Titanium nail stakes?
I've been using the MSR ones for years and never had any problems. Super light weight to boot.

Re: Titanium nail stakes?
I use some titanium stakes similar to the ones Zpacks sells (http://www.zpacks.com/accessories/stakes.shtml). The issue is that the holding power of a simple cylindrical stake isn't great. In high winds you'll want to place a heavy stone on top to keep them in place. I use fluted or vee stakes for the main tent body and the ultralights only for the cords as a compromise.

Re: Titanium nail stakes?
Tried a variety of stakes - Ti and aluminum. They all hold...often with a rock atop when needed.
While gram counters may disagree, the difference in weight between them is negligible.
My problem is the sharp tops...hurts like hell when I stumble over one at 2:00 AM...out checking the waterfalls.
Prefer Easton Aluminum, just for the rounded tops.

I use some like these. They had them on sale at EMS for $7 for a pack of six, so I picked up a couple of packs. My Sierra Designs tent came with something similar. http://www.ems.com/dac-tent-stakes/1308 ... AC&start=1

Well, I took a shot at those titanium nails. We'll see what they look like in a few weeks, after floating across from China. I've spent $16 on far worse, for sure.
If they don't work out, I'm sure I'll find use for them during the coming Zombie apocalypse.
