When I bought mine at REI in the Fall the website said it was an exclusive. Probably a short term agreement until Christmas.

I'm hoping to do a little night hiking this year and the Spot should work well for it. Hitting the trailhead after work/drive and getting a few miles in gets me an extra night :thumbsup: . I read somewhere that a minimum of 90 lumens is what you want for night hiking. With the Spot having variable output I should be able to find the illumination sweet spot for most conditions.

Received new 2016 Black Diamond Spot the other day. Wow, is it bright on the large lamp setting. Supposed to be waterproof to 1m? Hope I don't have to find out. Controls pretty easy to figure out, although I only worked the white and red lights, plus dimming. Didn't try the strobe, maybe if I hit a rave someday.

Overall, looks like a good useful product, and very light as well, 3oz I think. Got some AAA NiMh batteries on the way so I can use rechargeables.
