Ever wonder what the Hell am I doing here?
This was one of those times.
A year ago, if you were to tell me that I would be hiking to the top of a 14,000 ft. peak, I would have said, "yea right and screaming monkee's can fly" ! [-(

Image
Tom.....Never mind the fact that some of us may not make it back alive, what do you mean that on this hike I might break a nail ?

Image
Hiking legend Tom Gosset, he's been hiking peaks since he was a kid.

Image
Heading up the trail to Mt. Langley, it's the one on the right, hey that looks easy, piece of cake.

Image
Old Army Pass, hey what do you mean we are going up that?....
Hey guys, I just realized I forgot my cell, I'll just go back and get it...
you all can start without me,..........I'll catch up.

Image
Ok, they did'nt buy that so we are heading up Old Army Pass.

Image
Hey Tom, what a ya say we head back to Trona and grab a beer?

Image
Oh Darn, we are entering the National Park, tell ya what, why don't you all wait here, and I'll go back and and grab some cash to pay the entry fee.

Image
Hey wait a minute, the topo map didn't say anything about a going through boulder field ALL THE WAY UP !

Image
Hey this is harder than it looks ! Where's the air?

Image
Whoo Hoo, almost to the peak !!

Image
We made it !!! 14, 042 Feet

Image
The view from 14,000 feet is simply astronomical !

Image
The register.

Image
Will you hurry up, it's after 5 and and we have 10 miles to go, and I WANT A BEER DAMMIT!

Image
Let's all pause for a moment of reflection..........

Ok, that's long enough, let's get back to camp cause I deserve a beer !

Good Company, 20 miles of hiking, 13.5 hours on the trail, and over 4000 ft of elevation gain........

Can you think of a better way to spend a Sat. ?

Nice pics; brings back the memories of sufferi............joy while doing Langley. The difference is that I did it as a backpacking trip; you did it as a day hike! In that respect, I'm still a virgin, and will happily remain one! Too much work your way!!! :D Looks like you had a little night hiking from the basin. Great pic of the women looking over the edge; gives a little perspective to the immensity of the area you are looking over. Of course, Lewis, it WOULD be the women in the photo..........not that I'm complaining............... :unibrow:

nice pictures Lewis -
congrats to you all - you picked an awesome area to hike from. like Trekker says - dayhiking makes for a long day on that peak. good to see Tamara getting back out in the hiking world again.

it's getting harder and harder to find virgins to sacrifice to the mountain Gods
