Convict Creek TH (7,600') to Mt Baldwin (12, 615')

Forgot my poles, went back to the condo and got a late 8:20am start. The log crossing at the creek was gone . . . I fell in front first and my carbon fiber trekking pole went down the cascades. My camera got a little wet but worked, then died the next day. We met Trailtrekker and SDsierrahiker at the meadow by Mildred Lake. They backpacked in on Friday. By now SnowDude was feeling altitude and decided the meadow was a good turnaround point. I continued with the Trailtrekker and SDsierrahiker. We stopped at the first calcite mine, then SDsierrahiker found some fossils, then the big calcite mine, and the summit. A little over an hour at the summit, then we headed back. I left Mildred Lake at 7:50pm, and arrived at the parking lot at 10:20pm. SnowDude was waiting with a beer for me!


Friday: dayclimbed both high points of Two Teats (11,387') from Deadman Pass (10,255') with SnowDude

Sunday: dayclimbed White Wing Mtn (10,014') from Glass Creek (8,590') with SnowDude

Nice pics as usual, Snowy! Probably want to find somewhere else for your swim lessons, though! And what's going on.........no action pics of you falling??? You're getting slow on the draw!!!

Think that's the first time I've seen bee and millipede pics in a Sierra album.

Snowy, great photos as always, sorry about the fall, I went down a few weeks back myself, stepped on a boulder which rose up and bit my shin as it threw me to the ground and then pinned my leg, looked like something out of pro wrestling.
Thats one good hubby you have, cold beers ready when you get back!

Ridgeline, was that you I saw at the Laugh Factory a few years ago???

I guess I forgot to add that even though it was a long hike, it was AWESOME! Trailtrekker rates this as one of the best peaks she’s done that’s a non-14er. I heard SDsierrahiker say “this is such a COOL peakâ€

Deadman Pass to Two Teats

We did Two Teats as a warm-up hike for the weekend.


I'll work on White Wing Mtn if I can get internet connection out there.


Off to the Sierra for 10 days to do a few Sierra Challenge hikes!

Nice photos. I've always liked Mt Baldwin, and I am particularly relieved to see the calcite mine in fine shape (been to the summit only once, but the mine and Bright Dot Lake 4 times). I remember in the earliest 90's hearing of a harebrained plan by the USFS to "restore" the mine. I can't imagine how expensive that would have been (lots of helicopter hours?) and for what? It's not like it really looks that much like a mine anyway. It's just this wonderful jumble of glittering calcite rhombs.

Gee, Snowy, next time tell him to let go and take pics of you flying down the creek. It's just not like you to miss a photo op like that!! HAHAHA!
