Need suggestions for peaks near 7 Gables

Post by DavePloessel »

Hey all! I'm heading over the crest to spend 9 days mucking about in the general area of Vee/Bear lakes and am planning on bagging 7 Gables and Gemini while out there.

If anyone can recommend any favorite peaks in that area that would be worth climbing wile I'm there, Id be grateful.

I'll be with an inexperienced climber so nothing above easy class 4.

Main goals are views, isolation, and scenery, with fishing being a distant second.

Permit is for entry over granite bear pass and exit via pine creek pass.

Thanks in advance!

There is also Hilgard and Gabb, which are fine peaks and viewpoints. Hilgard and Gabb are both class 2 although some route finding is needed on the latter to avoid low 3rd class passing some of the cliff bands (if going up from L. Italy).
Since my fishing (etc.) website is still down, you can be distracted by geology stuff at: http://www.fresnostate.edu/csm/ees/facu ... ayshi.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
