Hey all,

I was hoping to climb Mt. Morgan above Little Lakes Valley/Rock Creek Lake. Is it pretty much snow-free right about now? Any info is appreciated.

It's very hard to say unless one has actually been up into LLV. The best (class 1 to 2) routes from Little Lakes Valley generally ascend spurs on the west-facing slopes then follow the ridge to the summit. In addition, sitting east of the crest as it does, this peak doesn't tend to collect as much snow as its neighbors to the west. However, although this is a very low snowfall year, I don't imagine this route to be entirely snow free yet given the altitude of the peak (13748). Some snow in key places on the otherwise easy route may require ice axe and crampons and make what is otherwise a walk up a somewhat more ambitious mountaineering adventure.

We were in LLV this weekend, and there was snow on the north slopes of Pyramid, BCS, and the area by Gem/Dade Lakes. We didn't use ice axes or crampons, snow was soft enough to kick step, and fun ski glissading down the steeper slopes. Wish I would've had my board! (((||)))

Snowy, did you get to see Lookout peak? South East side of Ruby Lake, would like to attempt this next week. Wondering how much snow was still lingering.
