quick overnight to Sylvia Lake to hit Pyramid Peak. Did this few years ago later in the season and wanted to see how it was in the snow.

epic marmot

Snow coverage started about a mile before Sylvia Lake, pretty easy to get to the lake if you just follow all the foot prints. At least half of the rest of the trail has running water through it, another quarter of it is muddy, the rest is dry.

The climb from the lake to the first ridgeline is pretty steep but the snow is relatively soft even in the morning so going up was tiresome but not dangerous. Theres is snow coverage all the way until the last couple hundred feet, the top is snow free. Going back down to the lake was a little sketch near the top, snow got even softer and it always looks steeper going down rather than up.

Got bit by a german shepherd on my thigh on the way out. Thanks for that lady.

Really? Wow, do tell.

A couple of weeks ago while on a day trip near Silver Fork I had the joy of two good size pit bulls growl & snarl at me from about 10' away. I yelled for the owner who finally came strolling along and thankfully leashed the dogs before anything happened. He mentioned that they're normally really good and it must have been me. Lame owners suck.

Was just passing the couple with the 2 German shepherds on a narrow part of the trail and one of them just snapped at my thigh. Didn't hurt but later I found out I got a puncture wound. They were on leashes but it came too suddenly and too close for the owner to drag it away. I didn't even think to get info from the owners since it didn't hurt and didn't see I got the puncture would till later. Went to the doc today, got a tetanus shot, told to keep an eye one it, and that rabies aren't a concern. Phew

Willy,

Those are really nice pictures.

My pet peeves ( :soapbox: ):

1. People who don't socialize their dogs.
2. People who don't leash up their aggressive dogs.
3. People who chose large, strong, aggressive breeds and cannot control the animal on a leash.
4. People who think it is OK to subject the public to these animals.

There is NEVER anything wrong with the dog. ALWAYS blame the owner.

I apologize for getting off topic.

I once ran into a lady who had a gigantic, fierce, aggressive Pit. She could not control this dog on a leash and it almost injured my alpha girl. If you are going to be an irresponsible owner, please don't subject the public to the results of your irresponsibility.

:soapbox:

There I go again! I can't help myself!
