More fun times!!!! Kerstin & I spent four very fun days with Snow Nymph during her 50th Birthday celebration week! Having to rent a hugh nice and comfy Ford Explorer to get down there, we drove in comfort & knowing we would not break down along the way. Two girls sure can bring a lot of stuff on a car hiking outing...the back of the car was ridiculously stuffed    This was a great trip, I had such a good time with two great people! On day three we had decided to do Mount Lewis which is located just outside of the Yosemite Park Boundary & in the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area. You start in Yosemite and hike out of it to get to Mount Lewis. This was a new peak for Cori & also for Kerstin and I. It's a beautiful hike, passing a few very old cabin remains & hiking along wide open meadow slopes..the views are beautiful all around, loved seeing the Kuna Crest! Thank you both again for such a nice time!
The summit plaque says 12,500 and the map says 12,296..so not sure?

It was fun looking thru your photos! I'm starting on mine and will post as soon as they're done.

In the meantime, here's the day between Boundary Peak and Mt Lewis. We sat in our pjs til 1:30am just talking and laughing! And thank you for the beautiful cake and bear and lizard!

Hikin Hotties do Mount Lewis

PHOTOS: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/555217535ynspcn

We had breakfast at Whoa Nellie Deli, and Matt Toomey called us the Hiking Hotties! :D Great breakfast as always! :yummy:

We got a late start, but made it back as it got dark! I didn't have waypoints for this peak, so we used the map and compass for this trip. It was a fun day for all!

Thanks for the great pictures, both of you! You started out in Dana Meadows, right? ..and then just up the Mono Pass Trail and XC to Lewis? I was at first confused by the caption "Mammoth Peak," but then I realized that I was thinking, "Mammoth Mountain," which of course is in quite a different place! A ranger once told me I should spend the night on a peak some time in my life, and he recommended Mammoth Peak as the place to do it -- but it looks like Mount Lewis wouldn't be a bad choice, either. Still haven't done that, exactly (though a couple of nights on open flats in the Snowy Range of Wyoming probably came close, at least in the display of stars), but I'm only a young 61 ... still plenty of time (as long as I keep up the red wine and garlic, eh?)!

Thanks again! I used to celebrate my birthday in Yosemite Valley when I lived in California, but if I had it to do again, I'd choose someplace in the high country. Good work, Snowy!

A belated birthday to MiT! :birthday Wish I could have celebrated with you too! I hope you were able to get out.

B2, Yes, we started out at Dana Meadows. We went to Parker Pass instead of Mono Pass. Even though it was longer, it looked like an easier slope. You're still young! One of my hiking friends (BobR, did Dragon Peak a few weeks ago) will be 71 this year! :D

Kerstin, did you get your pics developed?

This was such a fun time! Thank you both again. SN..thank you again for my BD wish :D
Staying in our pajamas that late   That was pretty funny, but so much fun just lounging around, talking, reading, looking at all the maps we had all scattered around, eating your Birthday cake..talk about being lazy that day  I love that pic of Kerstin & I sleeping on your sofa..,that worked out so good & was sooooo comfortable and cozy..I just hope I did not kick Kerstin in the middle of the night.

I think we did great for getting such a late start for the Mt. Lewis hike. What a beautiful hike it was..I love how the landscape is so dramatic once you are out in the open.

BSquared, I have a hiking friend she is 68 and drinks a full glass of red wine everyday...it's funny as she buys the cheapest wine she can find..she says she only drinks it for health purposes and not for the taste...it must help her as she is in incredible shape.

Cori..Thank you again for your hospitality....next time I will make us French Toast

Ooops I did get my photos developed. My husband and I have been scrambling trying to finish painting our house before it snows. I'm working tomorrow, but I'll see about getting a link to some of my photos done before the weekend is over.

Ok, here are a few photos. I'm going to have to purchase an account at Smugmug to show the rest. :o Sorry it took soooo long to get these up:

The first one is me, Anita and Cori on the summit of Mt. Lewis on 10-24-06. I was rushing to get into the picture before the camera's shutter snapped! The second is me pointing out the still skiable couloirs.
The third is a view of the meadow we walked through.

Thanks Kerstin!

You can get free accounts, but not sure where, other than Webshots. I know people that have multiple free accounts. Just add a number to your name (Kerstin01, Kerstin02, etc) if you run out of space. I think they allow 300 photos for free accounts.

Are you up for a Death Valley trip? (see post under backpacking/hiking/camping) Would love to hike with you again!
