Death Valley in '49

An excellent read. It's an autobiography written in 1894 by William Lewis Manly. It gets very interesting as he moves west in 1849 to California, through the Great Basin and Death Valley. It's also free at the link below on Kindle. I learned of him while reading Salt to Summit by Daniel Arnold who discussed the epic journey through DV as he tried to follow in their footsteps on his hike from Badwater to Whitney.
