Thanks for all the suggestions. We actually went ahead with our original plans for the Hoover wilderness area NE edge of Yosemite. Was a bit hazy but a good hike. These suggestions will help for future hikes.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
