Camping high in 9 lakes basin is heaven to me. I'd linger there and blast through lower Kern canyon. Precipice lake looks exactly like the Ansel Adams photo, it's very impressive but the campspots are too close to the trail and crowded together. This year you may have to camp at Moraine lake to find water. Once on the Kern trail you'll make good mileage. It's a great trip.
