Hiking/camping at 8000+ ft.

Follow up question to Slump Springs Rd. Wanted to hike/camp around some of the lakes off this way (like Twin, Long, Pryor area 8000+) mid next week, but I am concerned about too much snow, and the below 32 degree temps (I do have the gear and experience though). Anyone have an alternative for this early in the year? I heard there was an early snow melt this year, and a buddy of mine got some new gear and we wanted to hit up a hike and camp (two day only), and planned on this area. But now it seems it's cooling down. Thanks.

I was just on Kaiser Peak last weekend.

As long as you don't go cross country on north facing slopes on Kaiser Ridge, you are fine. What snow is there has consolidated and gone to patches, and is busily melting away. Did not see more than foot on the ridge top, and there was more dirt than snow.
