Reds Meadow Valley wind damage still lingers

Post by Scouter9 »

Ranger staff at the Mammoth Ranger station told me yesterday that Agnew Meadows campground will not reopen for 2013 season. This is still due to the damage and repairs from the November, 2011 microburst storm that puffed some trees down.

The glass half full might be that trailhead activity out of Agnew might be reduced, with slightly fewer people at Ediza and Thousand Island. I think that effect was noticeable last August when I was up there.

I doubt it would have much effect on the number of people that hike out of there since the trail heads are still open.
