High Sierra Topix

Worried that certain sections of the High Route may go dry by late August (or may be dry already, given the low-snow year).

Especially concerned about the section from Lake Catherine to Blue Lakes; and the trailed part of Yosemite from Foerster Peak area to Vogelsang Lake.

Which section would you be concerned about if you were hiking this year?

I've never been there but from what I've read and studied the larger problem from Lake Catherine to Blue Lake will be staying dry.

Give me a link to any topo map section and I will tell you where there is probably going to be water and why. And note I do have his SHR book.

I was in Bench Canyon last week. I got there by coming up from the North Fork San Joaquin, not the Roper Route.

Anyhow, Bench Canyon still has plenty of water, as does Blue Lake, although the water level is much lower than usual. You're quite high on the Roper Route, close to the snowpack.

I just can't imagine Lake Catherine going dry. It's too close to glaciers.
