Gannelli Cabin to wire lakes

Post by frediver »

Has anyone been there lately, what is the trail like now and a forecast for late Aug?
Hot, dry, brown, dusty, will I be able to fill my water bottle? Should I find another
trail ?
I like the area but this is a real dry year and I will have a late start.
Fishing for this trip will not be a big concern but I still might try to drown a worm.

Thanks

I haven't been to the wire lakes in about two years. The last time I was there they seemed fishless, so If you get there give us a report! They are beautiful lakes. From the reports here I wouldn't count on creek water, plan your trip from lake to lake for water. I would count on the trails being dry and dusty, especially with all the horse activity and the dry winter. I recommend a night at Toejam lake, not the prettiest lake, but good fishing for brook trout.
