Just got in from the LeConte Divide - you had a memorable experience for sure! I bet your son will be talking about that one with his grandkids. Kudos to you for staying put and not succumbing to the lure of "maybe we can walk out". I don't think that would have ended well. Sometimes "up" is easier - sometimes it is not!

Those bears sound scary!! The one hiding behind the tree in particular.

Big kudos for being brave enough to post this on the internet. I want to ask if you would email me the entire trip report and pictures to distribute to the members of the team who came out to find you? The team would love to read it. We are faceless and nameless volunteers who don't care to stand in the limelight, but we do like to hear the whole story behind the text message "subjects found, stand down."

I agree that the comments are maddening on the Fresno Bee articles - I try very hard not to scroll down to them ever! The articles are often wrong enough, no need to subject anyone to the idiocy of the "expert" city folk who have no clue.

Hi AlmostThere,
I'd be happy to send it to you along with pics. Forward me an e-mail address to send it to.
I hope your trip went well. Look forward to a TR.

Richlong8, I had a friend named Richard. He always said, "when I come back, I want to be wealthy. I already know what it's like to be Rich".
If you don't know where you're going, then any path will get you there.
