Are there overnight packers camping at Rancheria Trailhead? If not, where do BP'rs stay the night before their trip other than Wishon Reservoir or down lower?

Yup, there are several THs and parking places on the road beyond Wishon. Be sure to secure your vehicle and leave nothing valuable behind: I have had friends ripped off there.

It's National Forest, not a park. You can camp in the parking lot if you want to.

National Parks frown on that sort of thing, but it's not unusual to find people sleeping in cars at NF trailheads.

If you make it to the trailhead early enough then think about going to either Duck
or Chain Lakes.
Have a great and especially safe trip to TV Jim.

Opps, I thought it said Parking, not Camping. Heh.
Duck Lake is a great idea: close to the TH, good camping and a very nice little lake. I have been meaning to go back there...

thanks all.
After some back and forth, my normal partner going, then not going, then doing it solo, then partner going, not going, I'm finally set. I'm taking my son and teaching him to fly fish. An uncle of mine gave me a 9' 5wt Sage fly rod and Abel reel and my son a custom 7.5' 7wt split bamboo rod and quality reel (can't remember the brand name). It seemed logical with our new acquisition that he and I go together.
