hi,, i am planning a trip to the table land begginning of Aug.

is Bear Canister required for that area?

I've visited Moose/Tablelands the last two years and you are probably OK up there, if the bears around Bearpaw meadow, (I saw big one in the woods near Bearpaw and prints of others) do not wander. Still, since there is not a tree worth sneezing at, to be safe, I'd take a canister (and, the rangers may demand it, so you'd be best contacting them).

Probably no bears above Alta Meadows: I would be more worried about marmots. You can always get the approved Ursack: that would save some weight over a bear can. Bring deet.
