Hiking/Snowshoe 4/17-18

I'm going to be in Sacramento 4/17 for business and have 2 half days I need to fill with hiking and/or snowshoeing. Where are some good locations along I-80? Thinking of going up to Truckee. Is that worth it and where should I go. Anywhere else better?
