Hi everyone.
I have a friend coming in this Saturday and he and I wanted to get out into the snow a bit to do some snowshoeing. I am very familiar with Desolation Wilderness and I figured that would be a great place to go. I am figuring that there isn't too much snow up there because it has been so dry for the past few weeks and it's been fairly warm too. I was wondering if anyone knew what the conditions are like around the Echo lakes, Lake of the Woods, and Lake Aloha area...If anyone has any trail information regarding snow and such that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to start at Echo Lake, but I have no idea what the parking situation there is at this time of year, so any advice there would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I was on Tallac the 29th and know someone who did the Rocky Canyon route up Pyramid the same day. Pretty much no snow on either route other than a little tromped down snow here and there that's a little icy. Pretty much fall conditions except the lakes are all frozen solid which is pretty cool because there is no snow on the frozen lakes. I like Ralston as a snowshoe but there is no snow there either since it's a south facing slope.
