A little further north, you might try the Kerrick Canyon/Benson lake/Matterhorn Canyon loop out of Twin Lakes. Lots of great scenery, Matterhorn Canyon is fun fishing for brookies, and there is lots of room for off trail exploration as well...

Or just read a good mystery novel set in the Sierra; https://www.amazon.com/Danger-Falling-R ... 0984884963

Well I suppose you might have to wait for the full moon to do some good night hiking, and it would be best to stick to open granite areas....
Just kidding. The loop out of Twin Lakes is a good suggestion. Another would be a hike out of Leavitt Meadows: lots of lakes and streams and not a lot of steep uphill, rare for an eastern Sierra start. You could hike into Yosemite and Immigrant in a loop for even more lakes and streams. And a trip through the Minarets is something not to be missed. There are other possibilities.
